Romanian tourists eat supermarket food and avoid restaurants
The summer season brought revenues similar to last year’s season for some players at the Romanian seaside, such as Vega hotel in Mamaia resort, while for other hotels, such as Golden Tulip Mamaia or those operated by THR Marea Neagra, this year brought a 7-10% growth in revenue, reports local Ziarul Financiar.
However, according to hotel representatives, the difference from last summer is that tourists chose to buy food from supermarkets or directly from terraces in the resort, instead of eating at the hotel’s restaurant.
To extend the summer season and increase revenues, the hotel units cut the accommodation tariffs for September.
