Why do Romanian tourists go to Vienna?

04 May 2015

Romanian tourists mainly go to Vienna for the city's cultural offer, but they also combine it with shopping, according to the Austrian K + K hotel chain.

“The quota of Romanians staying overnight in our hotels has increased steadily in recent years. They are businessmen or tourists interested in the cultural offer and shopping. The last segment is predominant during the winter holidays,” reads the hotel chain’s statement, cited by local Mediafax.

Romanians are mainly focused on Vienna’s cultural offer but are also interested in the Mariahilferstrasse commercial street, combining cultural consumption with shopping.

Over 10,000 Romanians stayed at K + K hotels in 2014. The Austrian hotel chain runs ten hotels in large European cities, namely London, Paris, Barcelona, Vienna, Budapest, Prague and Bucharest.

In Romania, the chain runs the K + K Elisabeta Hotel in Bucharest.
