Romanian passengers get from Arad to Mangalia in 24h after train registers 8-hour delay

22 June 2016

It's no news that the trains in Romania register delays, but the Romanian railway company CFR has just registered a new record this year.

It took nearly 24 hours for an Interregio train to cover the 870-km distance between Arad in western Romania and Mangalia seaside resort. The train departed from Arad at 19:20 and was supposed to arrive in Magalia at 10:55, but the slightly over 15-hour trip turned into a 24-hour trip for the approximately 240 passengers, as the train registered an eight-hour delay, reports local Mediafax.

The passengers waited several hours in Petrosani because the tracks were covered with logs and water, due to a storm. Then, after passing Bucharest, the train’s locomotive broke down, and the passengers needed to wait for another locomotive to be installed.

The eight-hour delay is a new record for CFR this year, but it’s smaller than the 12-hour delay registered by another train last year.
