Romania's Transport Ministry has notified several local construction companies, which were working on the Moara Vlasiei- Ploiesti highway segment that the contract for the project will be canceled. This was triggered by the construction companies having left the site and having asked for a 47 percent hike in price, according to Transport Minister Anca Boagiu.

New companies to work on this highway segment will be chosen in August this year, according to the minister. This is the second such cancellation after a similar move for the Cernavoda- Medgidia highway segment.

A group made of companies SC Spedition UMB SRL, SC Pa&Co International SRL, SC Euroconstruct Trading 98 SRL and SC Tehnostrade SRL was working on the Bucharest – Brasov highway segment between Moara Vlasiei and Ploiesti.

French construction company Colas was notified last week about the contract cancellation for the highway segment – Cernavoda – Medgidia.
