Romanian transporters stop deliveries, threaten to leave shop shelves empty on proposed gasoline excise hike
Romanian transporters went on strike on Monday morning (December 9), stopping all activity in response to the recent Government decision to increase gasoline excises.
The strike will halt all merchandise transport to retailers, and threatens to leave store shelves empty just ahead the holiday season if the Transport Ministry fails to communicate with the strikers.
Transport company representatives and unionists say they have tried all the diplomatic options with authorities, who they accuse of failing to keep their promise to improve the laws for transport companies. The recent decision to up gasoline excises comes on top of everything, they added.
They say the current Transport Minister has never answered any of the letters sent by the employers unions in the transport field.
