Romanian woman dies after stray dog attack

A 49 year-old woman has died Friday in Bucharest from severe bite wounds inflicted by stray dogs. The woman was found badly injured and in hypothermic and hemorrhagic shock Tuesday in the courtyard of the city's sector 5 Public Domain Administration. The building is under conservation and no employees were there and the woman was reportedly attacked by a pack of stray dogs.

Doctors said she underwent three surgeries, including a skin transplant, but died Friday from the extensive injuries suffered. The woman, Taniosa Sachievici, had been recently hired by a waste collecting firm based in Constanta which was going to open a working point in Bucharest. She was collecting a recyclable waste container from the sector 5 Public Domain Administration, said her employer. The Police has opened an investigation.
