Romanian women pays USD 100,000 for Boeing 737 plane abandoned by Nigerian TranSky Airlines
Rodica Elena Petre, a Romanian from Prahova county paid some USD 100,000 for a Boeing 737 aircraft for passenger transport abandoned by bankrupt Nigerian TranSky Airlines, four times over the initial starting price proposed bythe Bacau Finance Department.
The plane was brought in 2007 to the company Aerostar Bacau for repairs, by the Nigerian TranSky Airlines, which later abandoned the plane because the company didn’t had money to pay for the repairs. The aircraft was transferred to the Romanian state and was put up for auction by the Bacau Public Finance Department. Meanwhile, the Nigerian company went bankrupt.
“The aircraft’s valuation price was RON 84,300 (some USD 25,000), this being the starting price of the auction organized by the Bacau Public Finance Department (DGFP Bacau). There were four files submitted to the institution, but only three were complete. After the auction, the property was won by Rodica Elena Petre, who also paid the amount she tendered, of RON 354,000, in the legal term of five days,” said Adrian Anghel, DGFP Bacau’s spokesman, quoted by Mediafax newswire.
The buyer didn’t said what she plans to do with the aircraft, he added.
