03 February 2014

The Romanian and Bulgarian sailing communities will team up to run this year's Romania Cup, with yachts to race across the coastal border.

The Romania Cup 2014  was officially launched on February 1, during an event organized at the NauticLife showroom in Mogosoaia, near Bucharest.

Romania Cup will include this year the first Romanian-Bulgarian mix competition, during the Dobrogea Sailing Week cup.

The race will consist of two regattas, namely Poseidon International Regatta and Kaliakria Cup, which will be held both on the Romanian and the Bulgarian coasts of the Black Sea.

“This year’s novelty in Romania Cup is that the first regatta will be organized in partnership with the Yachting Club in Balchik (Bulgaria). It will last four days and the prizes will be awarded from both the Romanian and the Bulgarian sides. There will also be a joint ranking,” said Bogdan Gradinaru, organizer from the Black Sea Sailing Association.

According to Mihai Marcu, head of Life Harbour and private medical operator MedLife, the championship will consist of five regatta, the same as in the previous year, with the same organizers.
