Romanians buy more cars. What brands do they prefer?
Romania’s car market rose by 17% in the first 11 months of this year compared to the same period of 2014, reaching 89,000 units.
Dacia ranks first among car brands, with a 34.5% market share. Romanians bought almost 31,000 Dacia cars during this period, according to data from the Romanian Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association – APIA.
Volkswagen comes next, with about 9,000 cars sold, followed by Skoda, with about 8,100 units. Ford and Renault sold about 5,500 units each in Romania between January and November.
Dacia Logan was the best-selling model in the last 11 months, with over 14,500 units sold. Dacia Duster (almost 6,000) and Dacia Sandero (5,200) came next. The best-selling import model was Skoda Octavia, with 3,600 units sold, followed by Skoda Rapid (2,440) and Volkswagen Golf (2,350).
Import car sales went up by almost 40% in November compared to the same month last year, reaching almost 7,300 units, the highest level in recent years. Domestic car sales were flat in November, at 2,400 units.
