Romanians buy more smartwatches. Which are their favorite models?
The smartwatches have become very popular among Romanians in the past year, according to local online retailer QuickMobile.
The retailer sold more than 11,000 smartwatches last year, with a total value of some EUR 3.2 million (RON 14.5 million). In 2014, QuickMobile sold 2,500 such gadgets, with a value of EUR 338,000 (RON 1.5 million).
These devices represented 10% of Quickmobile’s total sales last year, up from 1% the year before. On average, Romanians paid EUR 290 (RON 1,290) for a smartwatch in 2015.
Apple Watch 42 mm, Samsung Gear S and Pebble were the most popular brands last year, based on the number of units sold, according to QuickMobile. When it comes to the orders’ total value for each model, the top five is made of Apple Watch, Samsung Gear, Pebble, Moto 360, and LG Watch.
The most expensive smartwatch QuickMobile has sold last year is the Apple Watch Edition, the luxury version plated with 18k gold, which has a price of more than EUR 18.000 (RON 79,999).
The top three most popular Apple Watches last year included the Apple Watch 42 mm with a black aluminum case and a sport band, the Apple Watch 42 mm with a silver aluminum case and a white sport band, and the Apple Watch 38 mm with a black aluminum case and black sport band.
Samsung ranks first among the Asian smartwatches sold by QuickMobile, followed by Asus and Huawei. Samsung Gear S, Asus ZenWatch and Huawei Watch were the most popular Asian models last year, based on the number of units sold.
