The sale of used cars in Romania recorded an increase of 12.7% in the first nine months of the year, up to over 179,500 units.

In September, the number of used cars sold reached about 22,600 units, up by 11.5% compared to September 2014.

Romanians’ favorite brand among used cars remains Volkswagen, which saw over 51,500 registrations in the first nine months, up 14.6% year-on-year. Opel comes next, with about 30,900 units (up by 8%), followed by Ford, with some 20,800 cars (+11%), BMW, with over 12,700 units (+23%), and Audi, with close to 12,500 (+19%).

At the end of 2014, Romania had about 6.2 million vehicles, 4.8% more than at end-2013. Over 4.9 million of these were cars, and over 2.9 million were older than 12 years.
