Dozens of Romanian workers infected with COVID-19 at farms in Germany, the UK
28 Romanians working at a farm in Herefordshire (the UK) and 19 working at a farm in Swisttal (the Rhein-Sieg district, Germany) tested positive for coronavirus, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced, G4media.ro reported.
About 100 Romanians work at the farm in the UK. A few days ago, 30 other Romanian workers at this farm were confirmed with COVID-19 infection. Most Romanian citizens are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms and don’t require hospitalization, MAE said.
A total of 320 Romanian citizens work at the farm in Germany. The 19 Romanians who tested positive for COVID-19 are asymptomatic, and only one was hospitalized for another health problem, the Romanian ministry said.
All workers at the German farm are to be tested again on July 23.
A total of 5,243 Romanian citizens tested positive for the Covid-19 infection by Tuesday, July 21, according to the official report released by the Romanian authorities. Most of them are in Germany (2,330), Italy (1,885), and Spain (561).
