Romanians have EUR 400-600 mln shares from mass privatizations
The value of the shares held by Romanians following the mass privatization plan carried out in the early ‘90s currently amounts to some EUR 400-600 million, said Lucian Anghel, president of the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
“There are hundreds of thousands of Romanians who still have shares resulted from the mass privatization plan in the beginning of the ‘90s. Many of them have forgotten or don’t even know that they have these shares.”
The average amount held is a few hundred lei (RON), Anghel added, reports local Agerpres.
The people had the possibility to check whether they still had shares in certain companies on Friday and Saturday, by going to the tent of the Central Depository in the University Square in Bucharest.
Bucharest Stock Exchange had its second Your Money Expo financial fair in Bucharest’s University Square on Friday and Saturday.
