Romanians invited to sing out loud, read and dance in the street at Romanian Fun Festival this weekend
A festival which aims to re-teach Romanians how to have fun and be happy will take center stage downtown Bucharest this weekend.
Called Romanian Fun Festival, the event will include an 'sing out loud' part, consisting in live karaoke shows in Bucharest's Old Town on Friday, April 4. This will be staged on Lipscani street, behind the Romanian National Bank.
The 'Sing out loud in the city' show will start at 17,00, and for two hours, a band – called The Band – will accompany amateur singers who try their skills – and lungs- at 20 well known songs.
The Romanian Fun Festival takes place in Bucharest between April 2 and 6. The festival features a hobby exhibition at 17 Matasari St., held daily during the festival, under the name Hobbyka. Creative workshops are organized daily at 18.30 – one centering on bank plastic cards on Friday, empty matchboxes on Saturday, and toy car collections on Sunday. For children, events under the 'unbolt and discover' umbrella will be held daily between 15,00 and 17,00 at the location on 105 Soseaua Oltenitei, at Ateliere fara Frontiere (Workshops without borders). Kids will learn what electronic objects are made of.
If you see many people reading at the Universitate Square downtown Bucharest (near the Coltea hospital) on Saturday, between 12,00 and 13,00, rest assured the world is not upside down – it's still the Romanian Fun Festival.
A video game session will follow on Saturday at 15,30 in the Old Town, at the crossroad between Smardan and Lipscani streets. The day before, a biking session will start at 17,00 (on Friday, April 5), in the Tineretului area (Gheorghe Sincai high school), and bikers will take the route Piata Unirii, Piata Alba Iulia, Piata Muncii, Obor, Soseaua Stefan cel Mare, Perla, Piata Dorobanti, Piata Charles de Gaulle, Piata Arcul de Triumf, Piata Victoriei, Calea Victoriei, Bulevardul Natiunile Unite and Parcul Izvor.
A fan of people making faces when photographed? A collection of photos of quirky looking people will be open daily, April 2 to 6, on IC Bratianu Boulevard, in front of the Sutu Palace.
On Sunday, people will dance in the street. Tango, Rumba, Salsa, Bachata, Cha – Cha – Cha. Starting 11,00 at the Charles de Gaulle Entrance in the Herastrau park.
