Romanians place EUR 2,300 worth of online orders every minute
Romanians place about 70 orders a minute on the Internet, and the total value of these orders is of some RON 10,700 (or EUR 2,300), according to PayU Romania payments integrator.
The first five months of 2014 brought about a 20 percent increase in the average value of an online shopping cart which was also paid online, and a growth by 30 percent in the number of transactions paid for online at Romanian shops.
The trend is for consumers to trust online shops more, and certain segments have seen higher increases: tourism, toys, IT&C and fashion. Online orders via smartphones or tablets are also increasing, with 20 percent of the orders placed from such devices. Half of them are also paid online from such gadgets.
