Romanians prefer spending their winter holidays in the country, together with friends and family, with an average EUR 225 budget per person, according to a survey by an online hotel reservation portal, cited by local Agerpres.

About 65% of respondents plan to go on holiday this winter and 76% of them prefer towns or mountain resorts in Romania, according to the survey. The top destinations in Romania for winter holidays are Prahova Valley, Bran-Moeciu, Baile Felix, Tusnad, Gura Humorului and Sovata.

Those who choose to spend their winter holidays abroad opt for skiing destinations such as Austria, Bulgaria or France, but also for countries such Germany, Hungary and the UK.
