Romanians spend over EUR 6.5 mln for holidays in Malta
Over 6,000 Romanians went on holiday to Malta this year and spent more than EUR 6.5 million, according to tourism agency Malta Travel, reports local Mediafax.
In 2014, the Air Malta direct flights operated by Malta Travel carried some 3,700 Romanian tourists during the six months of the touristic season, who spent EUR 4.7 million on holidays.
“For 2014, we’ve seen an increase in demand for stays at 4 and 5-star hotels among newlyweds or those with children, the average expense for the ticket and accommodation per person amounting to EUR 1,050. In addition, every tourist also buys optional trips in the country, reaching a holiday budget for shopping, sightseeing and meals of around EUR 700. In other words, for a 7-day holiday at a 5-star hotel in Malta, a Romanian tourist allocates EUR 1,700 on average,” said Mark Neville Faruggia, director of Malta Travel agency, cited by Mediafax.
