23 November 2016

Romanians working in the public sector will enjoy a mini-holiday right before the winter holiday, as they will have three legal days off next week juste before the weekend.

November 30 – St. Andrew’s Day and December 1 – the National Day of Romania are legal days off for everyone in Romania. As December 1 is a Thursday, the authorities decided to make Friday, December 2, a day off as well.

The Government approved a decision in this sense on Wednesday, November 23. However, the state employees will have to work on Saturday, December 17, to cover for this day, or to work oen hour more during weekdays until December 16, reports local News.ro.

However, courts and State Treasury offices will be open on Friday, December 2.

This year, the Romanians will have two other legal days off, namely the first and second day of Christmas.

Starting next year, June 1 – the International Children’s Day will also be a legal non-working day in Romania. The Chamber of Deputies passed the draft bill in October, and President Klaus Iohannis signed the law one month later.
