Romania's Air Traffic Administration awards EUR 2.4 mln contract to Telekom
Romania's Air Traffic Services Administration – ROMATSA concluded a contract for voice-data communications services with telecom operator Telekom Romania Communications (the former Romtelecom) on October 31 via negotiation, without organizing a tender.
The main reason brought forward by the company is that the services “can only be supplied by a single bidder due to technical reasons,” reports local Hotnews.ro.
The contract’s initial value was around EUR 3 million, without VAT, but the final value was reduced to EUR 2.4 million, VAT not included, following the negotiation.
ROMATSA has the status of an autonomous institution, which is self-financed and is of national importance. It owns the monopoly of air traffic services.
Telekom Romania Communications is owned by the Greek group OTE, which has a stake of 54.01%, and by the Romanian state, with a stake of 45.99%. The majority shareholder in OTE is German group Deutsche Telekom.
