Romania’s annual inflation rate stays flat at 0.4% in February
Romania’s annual inflation rate was 0.4% in February 2015, similar to the all-time minimum recorded in January 2015.
This means that the average prices of goods and services in Romania, included in the Consumer Price Index (IPC), went up by just 0.4% in February, compared to February 2014.
The average price of services rose by 1.53% and the cost of non-food items was up by 0.65%, while the average price of food and beverages declined by 0.47%, data released by the National Statistics Institute (INS) shows.
Consumer prices went up by 0.33% in February compared to January, driven mainly by food prices, which increased by 0.53%. The prices for vegetables rose by 3.7% month-on-month while the price of fruits increased by 3.35%. Non-food prices also increased in February by 0.39% compared to January, mainly driven by fuels, whose prices went up by 1.93%.
The average increase in consumer prices in the last 12 months (March 2014 to February 2015) compared to the previous 12 months (March 2013 to February 2014) was 1%.
