23 January 2017

Romania’s National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) hopes that the Government will approve a budget of EUR 40 million for the institution this year, DNA chief prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi, said on Friday.

“We hope that it (the budget) is adopted as we have proposed,” she added, reports local Agerpres. The budget proposal ranges between EUR 35 and EUR 40 million.

She added that the precautionary measures ruled by DNA in the investigated cases amounted to EUR 640 million last year. This amount should turn into revenues for the state budget when the cases are completed, Kovesi added.

The chief prosecutor explained that 80% of the DNA budget goes for salaries and staff expenses.
