Romania's April 2012 industrial output: Ups and downs, mining sector records falls across the board
Adjusted figures for Romania's industrial production in April 2012 showed an increase of 1.1 percent compared to March 2012, according to Romania's National Statistics Institute (INS). Gross figures ( not adjusted for number of working days and season ) recorded a 9.9 percent fall for the same period. Year on year, the gross figures were unchanged, while adjusted figures showed a 2.6 percent rise. Seasonally adjusted figures for production from the end of January to the beginning of April 2012, were up 1.1 percent against the same period in 2011, while the raw, unadjusted figures showed a 0.2 percent fall.
Gross figures for production in April were down across all sectors against March. However, if using the seasonally adjusted results, there were rises in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, up 1.6 percent, and manufacturing, 1.2 percent.
Mining and quarrying came bottom of the class for production; recording falls month on month, year on year and quarter on quarter, using adjusted and unadjusted figures.
