Romania’s budget records over EUR 1 bln surplus in January
Romania’s state budget had a RON 4.7 billion (EUR 1 bln) surplus in January, representing 0.63% of the GDP.
The surplus rose by 19% compared to January 2015, according to the Finance Ministry.
The state’s revenues totaled EUR 4.5 billion in January this year, namely 2.7% of the GDP. They rose by 11.1% compared to January 2015.
The revenues from the tax on corporate profits increased by 48% whereas the revenues from excise duties went up by 19.2%. The revenues from the VAT increased by 17% and those from the social insurance rose by 11.1%.
The expenses amounted to EUR 3.5 billion, up by 8.7% year-on-year. The staff costs rose by 26%, due to the wage increases for public sector employees granted in the second part of 2015.
