Romania’s car market sees fastest increase in Europe in September
New passenger car registrations in Romania increased by 63% in September compared to the same month last year, to 9,361 units, this being by far the highest increase in Europe. The overall passenger car registrations in the 31 states of the EU and EFTA reached almost 1.5 million units, up 7.3% compared to September 2015.
Romania also had the highest increase in August, when over 12,400 new passenger cars were registered, up 68% year-on-year, according to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association - ACEA.
In the first nine months of this year, passenger car registrations in Romania increased by almost 20%, reaching 68,000 units. In the same period, the passenger car registrations increased by 7.7% in the EU+EFTA area, reaching 11.6 million vehicles.
Romanian brand Dacia registrations in the 31 countries included in this statistic went up by 17.8% in September, reaching 33.800 units. In the first nine months of this year, Dacia sold 12% more cars in Europe, or some 323,000 units, and had a market share of 2.8%, one percentage point higher than in the same period of 2015.
