Romania’s car market sees highest increase in Europe

Romania’s car market saw an annual growth of 68.6% in August, the highest increase in Europe. Over 12,400 passenger cars were registered in Romania in August, compared to only 7,300 units in the same month last year.

By comparison, the car market in the EU went up by 10% in August.

Romanian car brand Dacia’s registrations in Europe went up 39% in August this year compared to August 2015, reaching almost 28,000 units. It was the highest annual increase recorded by a big car producer on the European market, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).

In total, over 855,000 cars were sold in Europe last month, up from 781,500 in August 2015. Dacia’s market share reached 3.3%.

In the first eight months of the year, over 289,000 Dacia cars were registered in Europe, up 11.1% over the same period last year, and the brand’s market share was 2.9%.
