Romania's Cash-for-Bangers program kicks off
A new yearly edition of the Cash-for-Bangers program “Rabla” started on April 27. Its budget amounts to EUR 36.7 million.
The program allows people who own old cars to scrap the vehicle and receive in exchange a voucher that can be used when buying a new car.
The Government has allocated 20,000 vouchers for individuals and 5,000 for companies and public institutions. The state has validated over 100 car dealers for this program, reports local Agerpres.
The scrapping premium will stay at about EUR 1,500 in 2015, the same as last year. Those who want to buy an ecological car will receive an extra bonus, of up to RON 2,500 (EUR 565), via this program.
Romania has also started a separate voucher program for those who buy electric cars.
