Romania's current account posts EUR 554 million surplus
Romania’s balance of payments current account recorded in January a EUR 554 million surplus, above the EUR 252 million surplus in the first month of 2014.
The surplus of the primary income account increased by EUR 132 million, while the surplus for services went up by EUR 83 million.
The goods deficit fell by EUR 55 million and the secondary income deficit turned into surplus (EUR 32 million), according to the Romanian National Bank.
The foreign direct investments amounted to EUR 299 million in January.
The long-term external debt recorded EUR 75.72 billion at the end of January, namely 80.9% of all foreign debt. The short-term debt amounted to EUR 17.9 billion.
