Romania’s Dacia, biggest car sales growth in France in April

Romanian carmaker Dacia, owned by French Renault, saw its sales in France go up the most in April, among other car brands sold locally.

Dacia sales were up 45 percent, to 11,200 cars, a growth eight times bigger than the average of the French market. Sales of new cars were up 5.8 percent in France during the month, to some 166,000 units.

Dacia’s market share in France was up to 6.7 percent in April this year, from 4.9 percent in April 2013, according to data from the French car Makers’ Association.

The Romanian brand was fifth on the French market in terms of new car sales, after Renault – 18.9 percent market share, Peugeot (16.9 percent), Citroen (13.1 percent) and Volkswagen (8.18 percent).
