Romania’s former President Traian Basescu was involved in 68 criminal files, seven of them still ongoing, according to the Prosecutor’s Office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (PICCJ).

“There were a total of 58 criminal files at the Department of Criminal Investigation and Criminalistics between March 2004 and April 2014, 53 of which were solved. Two cases were joined to another one solved in 2007 by not starting criminal proceedings,” according to PICCJ, reports local Mediafax.

When it comes to the National Anticorruption Department, there were four criminal files where Traian Basescu’s name appeared between 2002 and 2012. Three of them were already solved.

Six other criminal files were recorded at the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism in 2012.
