Romania's Finance Ministry borrows money at record low yield
Romania’s Finance Ministry borrowed on October 15 EUR 158.5 million through an issue of treasury bills with a 12-month maturity at a record low cost of 1.2% per year.
The strong demand was supported by the good prospects on the banking system’s liquidity towards the end of the year, reports local Mediafax.
The Treasury received offers totaling EUR 568 million, namely almost three and a half more than the amount planned to be borrowed in October.
The state has managed to get a record low yield, given that the transactions on the secondary market on short maturities are minimal and the banking system expects a high liquidity by the end of year.
