Romania's Finance Ministry negotiates EUR 1 bln loan with European Investment Bank

11 February 2016

Romania’s Finance Ministry will negotiate a contract of investment of EUR 1 billion with the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The state wants to use the money to partially finance its contribution to the National Program for Local Development. The Government will try to accelerate the projects in the water, wastewater, and sanitation sectors with these money.

The negotiations will revolve both on the duration and number of installments, as well as on technical issues, such as what are the Development Ministry’s attributions related to the program’s implementation.

The National Program for Local Development is financed by over 80% from the state budget. The rest is covered by local budgets.
