Romania's Government approves second budget amendment in 2015

26 October 2015

The Government has approved the second budget amendment in 2015, keeping the budget deficit target unchanged, at 1.86% of the GDP.

All the public institutions that demanded money have received the amounts, because Romania continues to have a budget surplus, said Prime Minister Victor Ponta, reports local Agerpres.

The Health Ministry has received over EUR 81 million to pay for the 25% increase in the public healthcare personnel’s salaries. The Agriculture Ministry has received over EUR 169 million, almost EUR 68 million of which represent drought aid and EUR 83.5 million to co-finance the projects with European funding. The Government still has EUR 79 million for those affected by drought, but the amount needs to be approved by the European Commission.

The Government also allotted more money for education, justice, defense, internal affairs, and local authorities as well as foreign affairs and culture.

On the other hand, the Government cut the Transport Ministry’s expenses, mainly related to new infrastructure projects.
