Romania's Government searches for extra storage space to deposit seized goods
Romania’s Government has asked all the public institutions, including state-owned companies, to make an inventory of all the free storage capacities they have available.
They will be offered to the National Agency for the Administration of Seized Goods to store goods seized by the authorities, reports local Profit.ro. The Tax Authority (ANAF) and the Administration of State Protocol Patrimony RA-APPS don’t have enough free storage capacities for all the seized goods.
The National Agency for the Administration of Seized Goods (ANABI) has been recently set up. Its task is to manage the goods seized by the state authorities. All the seized goods with an individual value of over EUR 15,000 need to be stored in storage units managed by ANABI across the country.
The Justice Ministry, which coordinates the recently founded institution, has tried to find storage spaces at RA-APPS and ANAF, but discovered that the tax authority doesn’t even have enough space for its own activity. The Ministry then asked for the support of the Government’s General Secretary. Subsequently, the Government asked all the public institutions to contribute with free storage spaces.
