Romania’s Iasi airport will have direct flights to Munich

24 August 2015

Romania’s Iasi International Airport will introduce direct flights to Munich, Germany, this autumn. Romanian state-owned airline Tarom will operate the flights twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, starting October 25.

“In the past two years, we had countless talks with many business representatives in Iasi. We had clear demands to open this route, given that we’ve already managed to bring other destinations, and I must say that this is a difficult route to open because it is not massively supported by ethnic traffic. Munich is the destination that will enable business growth in Iasi and thus contribute to our community's well-being,” said Marius Bodea, president of Iasi International Airport Board.

On Thursdays, the flights will depart from Iasi at 07:00 and will arrive in Munich at 08:25, while on Sundays the departure from Iasi is scheduled at 14:40. The flights from Munich to Iasi will depart at 09:10 on Thursdays, and at 16:50 on Sundays, according to a statement of Iasi Airport.

Four airlines currently operate flights from Romania’s Iasi International Airport, namely Tarom, Austrian Airlines, Wizz Air, and Blue Air.
