Romania’s industrial production cools down
Romania’s industrial production went up by 0.6% in the first quarter of 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, as a gross series, but declined by 0.5% year-on-year, in seasonally adjusted terms, according to data presented by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The mining industry declined by 17.4% in the first quarter as a gross series (17% in seasonally adjusted terms), and the energy industry went down by 3.9% (4.6% in seasonally adjusted terms). However, the manufacturing industry, which is the largest component, increased by 1.8% in the first three months (0.9% in seasonally adjusted terms).
In March, the industrial production went up by 2.9% compared to March 2015 as a gross series, but declined by 0.4% in seasonally adjusted terms.
The industrial production went up by 2.7% in 2015 compared to 2014.
