Romania's insurance market records EUR 47 mln losses
The local insurance market saw EUR 47 million losses last year, six times higher compared to the level recorded in 2014.
The total profits generated by 17 companies totaled EUR 98.2 million whereas the losses of 13 insurers amounted to EUR 145.2 million, reports local Ziarul Financiar.
The market result was largely influenced by the mandatory auto insurance (RCA). The most active companies on this market segment, Euroins, Carpatica Asig, Asirom and City Insurance, recorded aggregate losses of EUR 124.7 million last year.
At the opposite pole, Metropolitan Life had a record profit of EUR 36.6 million. Allianz-Tiriac and Generali had profits of EUR 18.2 million, respectively EUR 15.1 million.
