Romania’s IT sector posts record turnover

The local IT sector’s turnover reached a record level of EUR 3.4 billion last year, according to business information agency KeysFin.

Between 2010 and 2014, the sector grew from EUR 2.8 billion to EUR 3.4 billion, whereas the number of employees went up from almost 53,000 in 2010 to over 63,000 last year, reports local Economica.net.

The Romanian IT field currently has almost 14,000 companies, 2,000 more than in 2010.  The sector is one of the local economy’s top employers, as it offers above-the-average salaries of EUR 1,000- 3,500.

The most important players in the field include Oracle Romania, IBM Romania, Siveco Romania, Romsys and Teamnet International SA, according to the KeysFin statistics.
