Anca Nedea, former hotel manager, was appointed the head of the National Authority for Tourism (ANT). She replaced Mirela Matichescu, who has served as interim president for a few months. Simona Man ran the institution until May this year, when she was removed from office.

Nedea, the new ANT head, was previously the manager of the Iaki hotel in Mamaia, a resort on the Romanian Black Sea coast, reports local Profit.ro. Famous footballer Gheorghe Hagi owns the hotel. Before that, she ran the Europa hotel in the seaside resort Eforie Nord, which is controlled by local businessman George Copos.

The National Authority for Tourism implements the national strategy for touristic development. ANT this year had a budget of nearly EUR 8 million from EU funds for tourism promotion. The money had to be spent on outdoor advertising and the country’s participation in tourism fairs abroad.
