Romania’s National Bank ranks 1st in Eastern Europe for gold reserves
Romania’s National Bank BNR ranks 35th in the world based on the size of its gold reserves, according to the World Gold Council.
BNR has 103.7 tons of the precious metal, and it is the best ranked bank in Eastern Europe. It surpasses the central banks of countries like Poland, where the gold reserves amount to 103 tons, Australia (80 tons) or even Indonesia (78 tons), reports local Ziarul Financiar.
South Korea ranks just above Romania with 104.4 tons. The US ranks first with 8,130 tons, followed by Germany, with 3,381 tons of gold.
