Romania's new prevention law delays fines for 333 contraventions
The new prevention law, which is currently in a draft form, cancels the initial fine in the case of 333 contraventions, replacing it with a warning.
These include contraventions from the Labor Code, the law of electronic commerce (for example spams), apprenticeship law, the use of land, health norms, safety of dams, and the Code of fiscal procedure, reports local Ziarul Financiar.
In the first stage, authorities will apply a written warning, and sanctions will be applied only in the second stage if the company doesn’t comply with the initial recommendations, according to the draft bill.
The new prevention bill will strongly affect the law that sanctions forestry violations. Some 47 forestry contraventions, including the sale of illegally harvested timber, will not be fined anymore. Instead, they will first get a warning.
Local entrepreneurs think that the law is a good change, given that not all companies are aware of the new laws that come into force overnight.
The draft law on prevention, which will be launched in public debate, is a liberal program that aims to help employers not to feel terrorized by the thought of a control, said Cristian Dima, a state secretary in the Ministry for Business Environment, at the beginning of last month.
