Romania's next IMF assessment to be soon after elections
The next International Monetary Fund (IMF) visit to Romania will be after the general elections and completed before Christmas, according to mission chief Erik der Vrijer.
He did not rule out a quick visit before the elections, but it would not be a full evaluation mission. “The next assessment will be soon after the election of a new parliament, before a mission becomes pointless,” said der Vrijer.
He added that the mission will be wrapped up before Christmas and that he will be spending the festive season at home with his family, even if the elections are held on the late side in early December.
An IMF mission was in Bucharest between July 31 and August 14, assessing the status of the loan agreement with Romania an the country's developments on various areas agreed with the Fund.
