Romania’s online retail exceeds EUR 1.4 bln
The total value of the local online retail went up by 27.2% last year compared to 2014 reaching over EUR 1.4 billion, according to a press release of GPeC.
The figure only refers to the products traded online and doesn’t include services such as utilities, plane tickets, or holiday bookings.
Of the 11 million Internet users in Romania, 6.7 million shopped online at least once last year. Most prefer to use the desktop when they buy online, but the mobile segment also saw an increase.
In the last months of 2015, over 50% of the traffic of the largest online stores came from mobile devices.
Last year, 1.4 million Romanians bought online through a mobile device and about 850,000 acquired products through a mobile app.
