Romania's private pension funds to invest EUR 150 mln on the stock market in 2014
Private pension funds in Romania hold investments of around RON two billion (or some EUR 450 million) on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, of which EUR 125 million were placed in 2013, according to calculations made by the Association of Private Pension Funds APAPR.
The EUR 450 million placed on the stock market represents about 14 percent of their assets at the end of 2013.
For 2014, APAPR estimates that the private pension funds in Romania will invest EUR 150 million on the stock market, more than in the previous year, considering the contributions collected by mandatory pension funds will be higher this year.
The net profit of mandatory (Pillar II) and optional (Pillar III) private pension funds in Romania amounted to some EUR 105 million (RON 462.8 million) in the first half of 2013, a year-on-year increase of 41 percent.
