Romania's retail trade turnover, up 6.3% year-on-year in January
The turnover in retail trade, except for auto sales, dropped by 24.4% as gross series and increased by 1.6% working-day and seasonally adjusted in January this year, compared to December 2014.
The decrease in sales of non-food goods (by 26.1% gross compared to December 2014), of food, beverages and tobacco (24.8%) and retail trade of fuel (20.2%) triggered this evolution, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Compared to January 2014, the retail trade turnover in January this year went up by 6.3% as gross series and by 6.8% adjusted.
As gross series, this was due to the increase in sales of food, beverages and tobacco (10.3%), in retail trade of fuel (8%) and in non-food goods (2.3%).
As adjusted series, the increase was brought by the growth in sales of food, beverages and tobacco (7.6%), fuel (5.2%) and non-food goods (4%).
