Romanian tennis star Simona Halep reached the quarter finals of the US Open, the last Grand Slam tournament of the year, after beating Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro in the fourth round.

Halep won the match in two sets ended 6-2, 7-5. In the quarters, she may face the world’s number one player Serena Williams, who plays against Kazakhstan’s Yaroslava Shvedova in the fourth round.

Simona Halep reached the semifinals of the US Open last year. She lost to Italian Flavia Pennetta, who then won the tournament.

Halep’s bets performance in a Grand Slam tournament this year was reaching the quarter finals in Wimbledon. She recently won the Rogers Cup in Canada and is currently 5th in the WTA ranking of the best women’s tennis players in the world.
