Romanian tennis player Simona Halep decided to withdraw from the China Open in Beijing, after she made it to the quarter finals, due hip injury, WTA announced on Twitter. Halep was supposed to play against Serbia’s Ana Ivanovic on Firday, October 3, for a place in the semifinals.

Earlier on Thursday, Halep managed to get past German Andrea Petkovic after a very hard game that she won after three sets and more than two and a half hours. During the match she felt hip and back pain.

Halep also retired from the doubles competition in which shw played together with Romanian Raluca Olaru. They were supposed to play in the second round.
