Romania's tax agency collects EUR 14 bln from large taxpayers in nine months
Romania’s tax agency ANAF collected around EUR 14 billion from the large taxpayers in the first nine months of this year, EUR 78 million more than the projected level.
ANAF collected over EUR 1 billion from the tax on profit, some EUR 1.2 billion from the income tax, EUR 3.5 billion from VAT collection, and EUR 4.2 billion from excise duties.
The tax agency also collected over EUR 1 billion from the social health contributions of the large taxpayers, over EUR 2.1 billion from the social security payments, and some EUR 105 million from the unemployment social contributions.
In September, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) published a report saying that the large taxpayer unit within Romania’s tax agency ANAF was wasting resources on activities that brought little money to the state budget.
