Romania’s tennis star Simona Halep, number 2 WTA, has once again been nominated among finalists for the tennis player of the months by WTA, and will go against Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki.

It is the second time the Romanian is nominated for the tennis player of the month by WTA. The first time, even though she got the majority of the votes, competitor Maria Sharapova was chosen by WTA instead to be the May Player of the Month.

This time, Halep is also nominated for the title Rising Star of the Month. For this title, Halep is against Ukrainian Elina Svitolina and Japanese Kurumi Nara.

The results for July will be announced on Friday, August 8.

“WTA Rising Star Simona Halep only played one tournament in July, but it was a very special one. The inaugural Bucharest Open in her homecountry of Romania. Halep completed her dream week by defeating second seed Roberta Vinci in the final. It was Halep's second title of 2014 and eighth of her career,” according to WTA.
