Romania’s Timisoara airport to add new 3,000-sqm terminal for passengers
The Traian Vuia Airport in Timisoara has completed the feasibility study for a new passenger terminal for international flights arrivals.
The new terminal will cover 3,000 sqm and will cost around EUR 2.5 million, said airport directot Dan Idolu, reports local Digi24. The investment will be done with money from the airport’s own funds.
The terminal, which will have three lanes for luggage, seven filters for border control, and a larger free zone, is to be completed by September 30, 2017.
“The current terminal for international arrivals, which exists in the airport, will be put out of use, and we’ll make a larger public area for international flights,” said Dan Idolu.
The airport in Timisoara registered more than 125,000 passengers in September, the figure being 42% bigger than the one registered in the same month last year, according to a statement from the airport. The annual traffic is to reach 1.15 million passengers this year, up 24% over 2015.
