Romania's wage law provides raises between 90-150% for teachers
The salaries of people working in the pre-university education sector will increase by 90-125% whereas the wages in higher education will go up by 33-125%, in the next five years, according to the wage law draft.
University teachers will have salaries ranging between RON 5,600 (EUR 1,240) and RON 10,800 (EUR 2,400) by 2022. State university rectors will reach a wage of RON 16,200 (EUR 3,600) whereas a dean would earn about RON 14,900 (EUR 3,300).
In the pre-university education, teachers in their first years of career will have salaries of about RON 4,100 (EUR 908) whereas teachers with seniority will get up to RON 5,500 (EUR 1,200).
The wage law draft provides that the salaries of doctors will range between RON 5,700 (EUR 1,260) for residents and RON 16,250 (EUR 3,600) for emergency unit doctors. The basic income for employees in the national defense sector and artists working in culture will increase by over 100%.
The employees with a PhD will benefit from a bonus of 50% of the gross minimum wage if they work in the field of their PhD work. The salaries of the Church’s executives will be capped at 65% of the officials’ wages.
Public employees will no longer receive food vouchers, but will get cash.
